Co-produced support for carers of those with dementiaPublished: 1st September 2015
A 2015 case study from NHS Luton Clinical Commissioning Group, who worked with carers of those living with dementia to understand and address the issues they faced, after it was identified many were reaching crisis point.
It was discovered that delivering services through an equal and reciprocal relationship between professionals, people using those services, their families and their neighbours was key to the success of the project. As a result the decision was taken to train and involve carers in the examination of issues, to help identify potential solutions from their perspective.
The following case study demonstrates quality improvement across the healthcare landscape, training carers to interview other carers, and the difficulties in accessing hard to reach groups.
